Discussion on Lymphedema - September 15, 2006
Lymphedema is an accumulation of fluid that can collect in any body part but most typically arms or legs when lymph vessels or lymph nodes are blocked or removed. Lymph nodes help to destroy bacteria, cancerous cells, or other wastes that make their way into lymph fluid. Lymphedema causes swelling in the soft tissues of the limbs from the buildup of lymph fluid. With early intervention and proper treatment, Lymphedema can be treated and controlled, allowing the individual to lead a full and normal life. The discussion is free and is being held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Suite 203 of the Nutfield Professional Building, 44 Birch Street. For more information or to register, please call Barbara Umansky, Oncology Social Worker, at (603) 421-2347. |
